The Mysteries of Lake Mead Part 4

In 1987, a rancher near Lake Mead’s Bonelli Landing stumbled upon a human skull and bones wrapped in a yellow blanket. For decades, the victim remained a Jane Doe—her name lost to time.
Nearly forty years later, in July 2025, investigators confirmed through dental records that the remains belonged to San Diego nurse Carol Ann Riley, who disappeared in 1986 after a final dinner with a man later revealed to be serial murderer Robert Dean Weeks.
This week, we close out Season 2 of Sins and Survivors with the final installment in our Lake Mead anthology. We look at Riley’s story, how it connects to two other missing women tied to Weeks, and the shocking way investigators finally caught him. We also discuss what Riley’s identification means for the families of Patricia Weeks and Cynthia Jabour, whose bodies remain missing to this day.
And while Lake Mead is often tied to grim discoveries, we also bring you an unusual story of survival—when a missing man was rescued after spending more than 40 hours in the brutal July heat with no food, no water, and no shoes.
