Still Missing: The Unsolved Disappearances of Abby Roberts and Phillip Johnson

Still Missing: The Unsolved Disappearances of Abby Roberts and Phillip Johnson

Abby Roberts is a beloved sister and niece who always shows up for the people she loves. In September of 2012, when she was 25 years old and just 2 months after coming home with a new baby, she disappeared without a trace.

Her 27-year-old boyfriend, Phillip Johnson, turned up days later in California, without her, but with their new baby and his 5-year-old son, and then he vanished too.

It’s been nearly thirteen years. There have been no arrests. No confirmed sightings. No clear answers. Just a missing car, a small fire in a garage, and two families left in the dark.

What we do know is this: Abby is a young Samoan woman with a big heart and a tight-knit family who has never stopped looking for her. Her loved ones describe her as honest, loving, and independent. She had just become a mom for the first time and was deeply bonded with her baby boy. In the weeks before she disappeared, Abby had reportedly planned to leave Phillip and was getting ready to move out of their new rental home. But then, silence.

Her family reported her missing on October 9. By then, the house was empty. The couple hadn’t shown up to work. Their car was gone. Days later, it was located in Compton, California, abandoned. Inside, the carpet from the trunk had been removed, but no other clues.

Investigators found signs of a fire in the garage back in Las Vegas. But beyond that? Nothing.

This case raises so many questions. When Phillip left Las Vegas, where was Abby? Where was he going after he dropped the kids off at his mom’s? And why, after all these years, are there still no leads?

Abby’s baby is now a teenager, raised by her family in Las Vegas. They continue to share her story, hoping that someone, somewhere, knows something. Her aunt Renee once said, “We want our Abby back.” That plea still echoes today.

No one disappears without a trace. Someone knows what happened. Maybe it’s a detail that felt unimportant at the time. Maybe it’s a memory you pushed aside. But if you lived in Las Vegas or Southern California in 2012 and remember anything: a conversation, a sighting, a rumor, even if you think the police must already know what you know, please speak up.

Abby and Phillip are both still listed as endangered missing persons. Until there is proof otherwise, they are missing, not gone. And they are loved.
