Justice for Keysha Brown

In October of 2004, a young mother was found murdered in her Las Vegas apartment near the UNLV campus. Witnesses reported seeing a man enter the apartment and later leave carrying a duffel bag, but despite evidence collected at the scene, investigators were unable to identify a suspect.
For nearly two decades, this shocking crime remained unsolved.
This week, just like Detective Dan Long at Las Vegas Metro, we're taking another look at this case. It was his careful police work that made the connection between Keysha's case and two other cases in his past that ultimately led to the solve.
One of the key questions here is that while we know who committed this crime.. was justice truly served? Does the outcome honor the memory of a deeply loved mom and daughter? Does it bring closure to her grieving family?
Keysha Brown’s case also intersects with the stories of three other women whose deaths shook Las Vegas in 2005: Sheila “Pooka” Quarles, Marilee Coote, and Rena Gonzales. While their cases received coverage at the time, much of the reporting focused on the shocking circumstances of the crimes rather than the lives of the women themselves. In this episode, we share what we were able to learn about each of them and the families who continue to remember them nearly twenty years later.
